Wellness Month Campaign

May 2026: Wellness Month, Dayforce Explanation Tab, and Utilizing Your Vacation Time

Wellness Month Reflection: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others

This May, we launched a wellness campaignโ€”a dedicated time to focus on well-being, connection, and restoration across our workplaces.

In the work we do, caring for others is at the heart of everything. But meaningful care doesnโ€™t only flow outwardโ€”it also needs to be directed inward. When we take care of ourselves, we strengthen our ability to show up with patience, compassion, and presence for the people around us.

Wellness Month is grounded in a simple idea: small, intentional actions can make a meaningful difference for ourselves and for each other.

As we close out the month, we invite you to reflect on what it means to both take care and give care in your personal and professional life.

Taking Care Can Look Like:

  • Speaking to yourself with kindness
  • Recognizing when you need rest and allowing yourself to pause
  • Setting boundaries that protect your energy

Giving Care Can Look Like:

  • Offering patience, empathy, and respect
  • Noticing when a coworker may need support
  • Sharing encouragement or appreciation

When these come together, we create a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and connected.

We hope you found some ideas and acts that feel meaningful and manageable for you.

If you take one thing with you this month, let it be this: The way we care for ourselves shapes the way we care for others.

Utilizing Your Vacation Days

Hey there! How many vacation days have you taken this year?

There is still plenty of time to book a vacation if you havenโ€™t used all of your allotted time. At Heartland Housing Foundation, we recognize the importance of personal time off for the health and well-being of our employees.

Please speak with your manager to determine whether you have any remaining vacation time available before the year is up. Even if you receive vacation pay on each cheque, you still deserve the time away from work.

Taking your minimum allotted vacation time is an important part of self-care. You do an incredible job caring for our residents, and itโ€™s equally important to ensure that you are taking care of yourself.

To book vacation time, speak with your manager about submitting a vacation request. Vacation time should be approved before booking any travel plans, including flights or accommodations.

Please keep in mind that we have blackout periods from June through September and during the Christmas season (December and January). During these times, vacation availability may be limited due to operational requirements and higher demand.

If you require vacation time during these periods, we encourage you to submit your request as early as possible. Heartland Housing Foundation will make every effort to accommodate preferred vacation dates; however, approval remains subject to staffing requirements and operational needs.
