Named in honour of former Alberta Legislative Assembly Member and Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan, Muriel Ross Abdurahman, Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court offers 83 units of near market housing, with rents targeting approximately 20% below market pricing.

The design of Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court incorporates traditional wood construction and modular elements like shipping containers. Furthering Heartland Housing Foundation's commitment to sustainability, the building's energy performance will be at net-zero levels through the use of solar power and other green energy features. Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court offers 83 units, ranging from 318 – 1,294 square feet, and is ideally situated near expansive green spaces, mixed-use walking trails, and access to local public transit. Tenants will also enjoy easy access to medical clinics, local restaurants, and shopping centres.

Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court Additional Services

This building has been designed to integrate power-generating solar panels that will supplement a suite's heating and power consumption. A monthly utility charge is needed to cover utility vendor fixed costs, ongoing maintenance and uninterrupted supply. These rates will be reviewed annually to ensure cost recovery only and ongoing sustainability.

Monthly Utility Recovery Rates:

  • Studio Units (3182 feet): $40.00
  • One Bedroom Units (6412 feet): $80.00
  • Two Bedroom Units (9652 feet): $100.00
  • Three Bedroom Units (1294feet): $120.00 

Parking Rates:

  • All parking stalls are powered. There are covered and uncovered stalls. 
    • Monthly uncovered parking rate: $25.00
    • Monthly covered parking rate: $40.00

Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court Amenities

  • The building is four stories tall and contains one elevator.
  • Smart-card laundry facilities are on each floor.
  • There are a limited number of barrier-free units (e.g. wider hallways, step-in showers rather than tubs) that are available on each floor for applicants requiring a lower-barrier apartment. You can indicate your preference for a barrier-free unit on the application form. 
    • All other units include a tub with a shower. 
  • The kitchen in one, two and three bedroom units contain a full-sized fridge and range or top/wall oven.
    • Studio units will have a smaller bar-sized fridge, small range, and microwave. 
  • Each unit comes with roller shades for window coverings.  
  • Each suite contains fire sprinkler systems and smoke and fire alarms.
  • Balconies/Patios available in all units except studio and select one bedroom units. 

Pet Policy

Pets will only be permitted with express permission from management.

Pet Policy Overview:

  • One pet or cage/aquarium per household.  
  • A monthly fee of $25.00 will apply.  
  • Pets applicable under this policy include: 
    • 1 small dog (less than 16 kg., up to 40 cm at shoulder), or
    • 1 cat, or
    • up to 2 aquarium dwelling animals. Limited to fish, salamanders, newts, turtles, toads, and lizards. No snakes or arachnids.  
    • or up to 2 caged rodents, lizards, newts, or small birds (no macaws or parrots)  
    • No pets which require live food.

If you are applying to house a dog or a cat, they must be up to date on vaccinations, be spayed or neutered, and if applicable, be licensed with the city/county.  

  • Documentation of up-to-date vaccination status, spay/neuter, and valid license will be required for approval. 

Licensed service dogs are exempt from the requirements of this policy.

  • If you have a service dog, you are required to submit a Service Dog Identification Card issued by the Government of Alberta (or other Canadian provinces).

Renters Insurance

Heartland Housing Foundation requires all renters to have personal property coverage and general liability insurance with a coverage amount of at least $1 million.
