Healthy Habits for Illness Prevention and Control

Flu season is among us and the show must go on! Here are some healthy habits to prevent germs from spreading and to stay healthy while working.

Happy Hands: The most important healthy habit to prevent the spread of germs is to keep your hands clean. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer is also available through the site for when you need a quick clean and are not near a sink.

Keep it Clean: Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like countertops, handrails, taps, doorknobs, light switches, elevator buttons and workstations, especially during flu season or when someone in the area is sick.

Avoidance is Key: Try to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Avoid close contact with others whenever possible. Avoid coughing or sneezing into your hands by coughing or sneezing into your elbow or into a tissue and discard tissues immediately.

Sharing is not Caring: Stay home if you are sick with a spreadable illness and follow any required illness prevention controls when returning after an illness.

Thank you for considering these prevention measures and for helping keep a healthy work environment for yourself and the team, as well as, most notably, a healthy home for our residents.

CRA Announces 2025 CPP Rates

The year’s maximum pensionable earnings under the Canada Pension Plan for 2025 will be $71,300, up from $68,500 in 2024, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced Friday.

The second earnings ceiling, known as the year’s additional maximum pensionable earnings, will be $81,200 in 2025, up from $73,200 in 2024.

Earnings between the first and second earnings ceilings are subject to a second tranche (installment) of CPP contributions, also known as CPP2 contributions, as part of the plan’s expansion that began in 2019.

Employee and employer CPP2 contribution rates for 2025 will remain 4% and the maximum contribution will be $396.00, up from $188.00 in 2024.

Between 2019 and 2023, both the employer and employee contribution rates up to the first earnings ceiling increased from 4.95% to 5.95% as part of the first stage in the expansion of the CPP. Employee and employer CPP contribution rates for 2025 remain at 5.95% and the maximum contribution will be $4,034.10 each, up from $3,867.50 in 2024.

The basic exemption amount for 2025 remains $3,500.
